Equity Trust

Nutwood Farm is a regenerative agroforestry farm cultivating a wide variety of edible perennial nuts – primarily hazelnuts and chestnuts but also including walnuts, pecans, butternuts, and heartnuts – for local distribution in Western Massachusetts.  As the state’s first small-scale nut farm, it is “in the forefront of young innovative farms shaping the future of community-based, ecologically sound, regenerative food systems,” and will provide a missing link in the local food movement for years to come.  Our loan refinanced their seller-financed acquisition loan and leveraged options, held by Equity Trust, that will someday lead to permanent protection of the land by an appropriate stewardship organization, potentially benefiting Native Americans.
