Black Lives Matter. Equity Trust stands in solidarity with all those demanding justice and recognition of the sanctity of Black lives.
It is critical that we support those on the frontlines of this struggle, as we work to build a new system that affirms the sacredness of Black life and ensures community control of land and resources:
New Economy Roundup: In Defense of Black Life, We Demand Community Control – As members of the New Economy Coalition, we are joining the call for community control of public funding, housing, land and farming, utilities, and work.
A Black Commons – This proposal from the Schumacher Center for a New Economics underlines the central role of land reform in building an equitable society, and shares a list of some of the organizations actively building Black and Indigenous control of land and communities.
List of Bail Funds from Community Justice Exchange – A collection of community resources for protestors around the country.
Since Equity Trust’s founding in 1991, we have advocated for more equitable access to land and resources. However, as an organization with white leadership, we acknowledge the privilege and responsibility we have to do more. We commit to showing up for racial justice by reviewing all our work and asking how we can better address injustice and inequality. We commit to remaining focused on this imperative, and facing the challenge of being accountable for our work and organizational practices.
